✯BLOG TOUR:✯ Shopping for an Heir by Julia Kent {REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!}

Shopping for an Heir by Julia Kent

Release Date: September 20th 2016
Series: Shopping for a Billionaire #10
Genres: Romance, Humor, Contemporary

Gerald Wright works for billionaires. He never imagined he’d become one.

The former Navy Seal is a chauffeur by day, artist by night, so when hotter-than-ever ex-fiancée Suzanne Dayton interrupts his nude model sculpting class to serve him with inheritance paperwork from a man he’s never heard of, he assumes it’s a joke.

Turns out the joke’s on him. There’s just one catch. A big one.

And it might be Suzanne — in more ways than he ever dreamed.

My Review:

This is the first time I've read anything by the author, and it an overall good story about second chances at love. Right when the story starts we get to meet Gerald Wright, a former Navy Seal whose daytime job is as a chauffeur for billionaires, and an artist by night. His jobs has taken him to a lot of places, but when he met Suzanne Dayton his life changed. They got engaged soon after, but that did not last long before he called it off. Leaving without letting her know how he really felt has tormented him for a very long time. After being in the Navy, he saw a lot of things that mentally destroyed him, and he needed to find a way to let her go without bring her down. Now, years later he finds himself at his art class when his ex-fiancee shows up to serve him with inheritance paperwork from a  man he's never heard of before. He thinks it's a joke, but takes it as a sign that maybe he still has a chance to be with the woman that he loves once again. It's up to Gerald now to convince Suzanne that they can still have a happily ever after if they let the past go.

I really enjoyed reading the book, it's hilarious and sweet. The plot itself had it's twists and turns, but it wasn't exciting to me. I was expecting so much more from this book, the pace was inconsistent, but at the end the characters really had me rooting for them as a couple. There are secondary characters that really helped the story a lot, they made it funny and I enjoyed reading those scenes the most. In the story, Gerald has to come to terms with his past, and by spending time with Suzanne things get a lot better for him. The duel point-of-view helps us understand both characters more as they go to the next step in their lives. Overall, it was good story with a solid ending. I will most definitely keep reading from the author in the future. :)

He leaned in, kissing her softly. Smoochy stirred, sat up, and toddled off, jumping off a very distracted Gerald’s lap.

“Let’s take this,” she said, breathless between kisses, “one step at a time.”

“Define ‘step.’”

“Spend the night with me.”

“I like that step.”

“Make me breakfast in the morning.”

“Is that step two?”

“Sure.”

“I always respond well to a clearly defined set of procedures.”

“How about a map?”

“Even better.”

Neither one moved. The offer, once accepted, was almost enough. Acting on it felt so big. So was he, though. As she crawled into his lap, connected to him by their eager mouths, she pulled her skirt up so she could straddle him, his arms wrapping around her waist. The heat of sinking into him, the intimacy of having his body so close, made her mind rest.

Her body took over.

“You taste so good,” he murmured between kisses, his hands sliding up her spine in tandem, then moving across her shoulders in synchronized perfection to remove her suit jacket. The shiver she gave came less from the temperature change and more from the delicious feel of how he touched her. With Gerald, a touch wasn’t just the stroke of a finger, the brush of a palm, the flick of a tongue, or the thrust into her. Never one to waste movement, he reveled in it, living fully in dimensions she couldn’t even see.

He pulled her shirt out from her waistband just as she returned the favor, seeking the raw warmth of his skin. Her hands flattened against his thick shoulders, the connection grounding, her body moving in a slow, involuntary rhythm against him as he kissed her hard.

So hard.

As he cupped her breasts over her bra, her nipples tightened, the ache spinning down in a spiral, tearing through years of pain and craving. Her breath hitched and his kiss became more urgent, his intent clear. It was so good to kiss a man who knew how to hold her just so, who used a feather light touch where she wanted it, and who pressed where a tighter squeeze made a difference.

Gerald had been joyfully unrestrained in bed, hours of pleasure unending, as if there were no events marking time— no final orgasm, no steps in a schematic— but only the undefined fuzzy logic of imperfect art played out in moans and sighs, in the light stroke of a fingertip against responsive flesh, in the wave of tongue against arched hips and the push and pull of love cried out in ecstasy.

In minutes, they would be back in that dimension. S

he shivered with anticipation.

“What are we doing?” she whispered, the tone playful, his hands sinking into her long waves.

“Whatever it is, it’s been a while,” he rasped. “I’ve missed you. I’ve missed this.”

✯BOOK BLITZ:✯ Sucker Punched by Kelley R. Martin {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Sucker Punched by Kelley R. Martin

Release Date: September 27th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

From New York Times bestselling author Kelley R. Martin, comes a sexy new standalone in the Knockout Love series.

“Macy Dunham” is synonymous with “off-limits.” Not only is she practically a virgin, but she’s a walking, talking angel who’s way too good for a devil like me. She’s straight-up beautiful, and so far out of my league I want to cry. Did I mention she’s also the godmother to my future niece or nephew?

Now I have to play nice with “Aunt Macy” for the next 18 years. There’s just one tiny problem—the first night I met her, I played with her a little too nice.

Macy was only supposed to be a hook-up. I was supposed to show her a night she’d never forget—give her a little taste of what it’s like to be bad—and then send her on her way. She wasn’t supposed to stick around, and she damn sure wasn’t supposed to become my best friend.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to pretend like I don’t know how soft her skin feels, how good her lips taste, or how perfect it feels inside her? It’s torture. I’d give my left nut for another chance to sink inside Macy, but I can’t afford to mess this up and that’s exactly what would happen.

It’s too bad “Blake Whitmore” is synonymous with “screw-up.” Macy’s a sweet girl who deserves an epic love story. She deserves romance, and a knight in shining armor who slays dragons. I’m not the knight in this story.

I’m the fucking dragon.

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

After reading the previous two books in the trilogy, I couldn't wait to read what happened next with Bleu and Sinclair. From the moment they met, they were immediately attracted to each other, and not knowing what each had planned, they both embarked into an adventure that would ultimately change their lives forever.

Bleu's goal had been to avenge her mother from the very beginning, but things rapidly changed the minute she met Sin, and ever since then she has been doubting herself as she struggles to  find a way to be at peace. She couldn't kill Sin's father, and now after discovering that he may not have been the one that actually murdered her mother, Bleu has been questioning everything she knew about The Fellowship. Her love for Sin has grown and so is their relationship. Now as they get closer to finding the truth, she needs to decide whether killing her mother's killer will actually avenger her mother at all.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the SIN trilogy, One Last Sin has lots of twists and turns that will definitely keep you guessing until the very end. Throughout the story we get to see the character's grow and make difficult decision to keep each other safe. Bleu's life has changed for the better, she is happy with Sin, but she believes that by killing her mother's killer it will somehow make things so much better for her. On the other hand, Sin has been haunted with the promise that he made to Bleu's father before dying and he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Bleu safe. There are a lot of things that the characters get to find out in this book that will put their relationship to the test. I especially loved the ending, it's sweet and it fits well with the story. Overall, not only is the story very well-written, but it's also full of surprises. I would highly recommend it if you like these types of books, and if you don't, then this trilogy will definitely make you want to read the books until the very end. :)

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

In the first book of the SIN trilogy, tensions were high between the characters when they finally were able to face the truth. Bleu MacAllister is now back home after leaving the love of her life back in Scotland. It has been moths since they've seen one another, and everyday she is reminded of the man that became so much more for her. But knowing that she couldn't go through with her plan has been killing her. Yet that doesn't last long when Sin appears back in her life ready to handle the obstacles ahead of them with the woman that he loves. With that said, he is willing to help her avenge her mother, but can they really trust each other in order to move on as a couple?

After reading the book, I couldn't wait to read the second book in the trilogy. Sin is perfect for Bleu and he couldn't let her go that easily. After discovering Bleu's plan, Sin was left in shocked and couldn't believe what Bleu was about to do to his father. But he took it upon himself to find her after she left, and now he is able to make the biggest decision of his life, one that will change their lives forever. In the second book we get to learn more about what truly happened to Bleu's mom. Her killer is still out there and she will not stop at nothing until she finds him. On the other hand, Sin has a plan to make Bleu part of his life permanently, and is ready to against his own family if he has to. At the end of the first book we are left with a cliffhanger, but Cates has outdone herself with the second book, it has so much more plot that will definitely keep you at the edge of your seat. I can't wait to read the end of the book, it's going to be epic. :)

Excerpt Sinclair’s POV

I’m in the background of Bleu’s life, as I have been for weeks. I have eyes on her at all times, even when they’re not my own. I safeguard her from harm. It’s all I’ve done since tracking my lass down in a small town in Mississippi, right outside of Memphis. I act as her protector from afar and she has no idea. She believes she’s hidden from The Fellowship—and me—but she couldn’t be more wrong. I’m always here, keeping a watchful eye on her and the MacAllister family.

I often need to be reminded that this is Bleu’s world. Every person she has contact with isn’t a threat but there’s an enormous problem with that. I have no idea who’s friend or foe.

I was concerned when Bleu disappeared at the bar with a man earlier tonight. I was on the verge of barging into the back until my lass came out on stage to perform with the band. I don’t think I’ve ever been so surprised in all my life. I knew she played but I never pegged her for a public performer. That doesn’t seem like my Bonny at all.

But I guess I don’t really know the real Bleu MacAllister. I only know the woman she pretended to be.

And those lips—the gloss was all but gone and I could make out the contours of her mouth. A mouth made for kissing.

She made a face at me before she turned away, trying to get the bartender’s attention. “My mother always said it was impolite to stare.”

“She should know better than anyone how impossible it is to not stare at you. You’re beautiful, Penny.”

The look she gave me was so incredulous that it made my fingers twitch into a fist, ready to take on whatever demons had convinced her to take compliments with a grain of salt.

Bleu MacAllister is consumed. A horrific childhood incident has caused every decision in her life to revolve around bringing a monster to justice.

She’s always known this undertaking would place her life in danger—she never imagined her heart would be as well.
(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

Not having read other books by Georgia Cates before, I was really impressed with the twists and turns of this book that had me completely hooked from the very beginning. Right when the book starts we get to meet Bleu MacAllister, a former agent whose only motive in life is to avenge her mother from a horrific crime that took her away from Bleu at a very young age. After years of training and studying The Fellowship, Bleu is finally ready to bring the crime organization down, including their leader. Yet, in order to kill the leader she needs to be invited into their world, and getting to Sinclair (the leader's son) would help her cause. Little did she know that Sin would prove to be something else all together, now she needs to find a way to put her feeling for him aside if she wants to get justice once and for all.

For Sinclair Breckenridge being next in line to becoming the leader of a major crime organization has been in his mind ever since he was born. He was brought up to think that he could be ruthless and be the best for his fellow fellowship members. But he wasn't expecting to run into Bleu at a bar, and find her attractive. He is immediately taken by her beauty and her ability to stand up to anyone, including him. As the two start to spend time with each other, the more he starts to realize that there could be more in life than just a life full of crime, and it is his duty to protect Bleu against those that are trying to hurt her no matter what.

I really enjoyed reading the first book the SIN trilogy, it was captivating from the very beginning, and I couldn't put it down until the very end. The characters are very similar, they get what they want and defend those that they love. Sin is ruthless, caring, playful, and protective. We get a lot more emotion from him than Bleu, yet it's very evident that they have chemistry from the first time they met. On the other hand, Bleu is determined and caring. Her mother's murder has been with her for a long time, and she believes that by killing her mother's killer will put an end to her misery. Yet at the same time, she wasn't expecting her trip to Scotland to change her life forever. Needless to say, when Sin discovers Bleu's plan thing start to change and it would be up to them to figure out if they can overcome whatever comes next. Overall, the plot was amazing, it has everything that a reader would want. It has drama, steamy scenes, suspense, and romantic scenes that will keep you reading until the very end. I would highly recommend reading this book, you will not regret it. :)

Bleu MacAllister’s POV

“You better be worth all this work and waiting.” He nips my bottom lip and gives my ass another painful squeeze before turning to walk to his car.

Anticipation—it builds excitement and suspense. The brain really is a sexual organ, even for men. Sin is going to spend the next five days and nights fantasizing about what it’ll be like when he finally has me beneath him. Waiting is something he’s never had to do so this is another way of setting me apart from the others before me. It proves I’m worth the wait and far more than just fuckworthy.
