Waiting for Wednesday (#69)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Inspire

by
Expected publication: December 15th 2014
Kalliope lives with one purpose.

To inspire.

As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.

Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.

Her presence may inspire genius.

But it breeds madness, too.

***I'm intrigued! I don't think I've read a similar book before. Having not read a book by Cora Carmack before, the cover completely drew me in, and I can't wait to read it. What are you guys waiting to read?***

From USA Today Bestselling Author, Cali MacKay...

Chef Emma Sparrow has poured her heart and soul—not to mention all her money—into the restaurant of her dreams. But when Quinn Ryker, her landlord and billionaire playboy, refuses to renew her lease, her entire world and all those who depend on her, are at risk.

Quinn’s spent months trying to stifle his curiosity for the gorgeous chef who runs the kitchen of his favorite bistro like she’s a five-star general. He can’t help but want her, especially when she comes marching into his office full of fire and passion, furious with him and demanding he renew her lease. Yet he now has something she wants, and he knows just what he’ll do with that heat and anger of hers, especially once she’s in his bed.

A bargain is stuck that will save Emma’s restaurant and give Quinn what he most desires—Emma. But it turns out there’s a lot more on the line when negotiating matters involving one’s body, heart, and soul.

*** This novel contains a Happily Ever After ending. Due to the adult language and explicit sex scenes, this book is for adults only.***

All’s fair in love and war…

Abby Snyder finally has the opportunity to expand her diner now that the building next door is available. Unfortunately, she must compete with Nick Coleman to get it. Abby—usually über-responsible—shared one night of intense passion with the playboy, and she's been trying to forget it ever since. But then Nick bets her the building that he can make her fall in love with him in thirty days.

With his reputation ruining his chances at gaining some big clients, Nick needs a way to prove to everyone that he’s reformed. Dating Abby, the most respected girl in town—and the only one he wants—is the perfect solution. Nick’s confident he’ll get Abby to fall for him, so he’ll win the building and the girl he can't get out of his mind.

But even though Abby can’t lose, resisting Nick is harder than she thought.

My Review:

Resisting Her Rival was such a cute romantic story about two rivals fighting over a building, and whose hearts collide as they start to realize that they are meant for each other.

Abby Snyder has worked really hard to make her diner successful, and now she wants to expand it by using the building next door. But to her surprise, the person that also wants the building is non other than Nick Coleman, the undeniably irresistible playboy that she got to spend the night with. Months have passed since they've seen one another, and now that he is back in town, and in her life, she is determined to get what she wants no matter how irresistible Nick is.

Nick has had a rough time getting clients for his business due to his reputation, his playboy status hasn't worked for him, and now he wants to turned that around by buying a building for his business. He knows that if he wants to change his status with the town, he'll have to figure out a way to make them see that he is a responsible and changed man. And he has just the right person to help him with that, and that is Abby Snyder. Nick knows that getting Abby to help him is not going to be easy, but the minute Abby finds out who is planning to buy the building next to hers, Nick bets her the building if he can make her fall in love with him in thirty days. It is a risky move for both of them, but they are equally determined to win. When the thirty days start, Abby starts to wonder if falling in love with Nick is easier than she thought it would be, and if she falls for him, she is going to lose the building that she wants.

I really liked both of the characters in the story, Abby is a hard working person that wants to succeed, and Nick is more playful, but also a hard-worker. When the two visit the owner of the establishment to sell them the building, he tells them to figure out on their own who is going to be the one getting the place, and that's when the bet is really on between the two. The dynamic between them works and that's what also pulls them together. I found myself hysterically laughing in some of the scenes where Abby's grandfather is involved. He is a total matchmaker, and he is hilarious. The storyline was great, and engaging, it was nice seeing the progression that the two characters made throughout the story, to the very end. Overall, the story was enjoyable to read, as it was quick, and the romance between the characters helped a lot. It really made the ending cute and romantic, I would really recommend anyone to give this story a try. :)

The final page will leave you breathless.

When Kara Magari uncovers a secret door in the middle of the forest, she discovers (and trips through) a portal to a hidden world full of terrifying things: Ourea. She just wants to go home, but the natives have other plans for her. She clashes with immortal shapeshifters, is carried off by a dragon, nearly dies on several occasions, and somehow becomes the master of an ancient book of magic called the Grimoire. Every time she thinks she's safe, her new "friends" show their true colors.

Kara needs an ally, or she might not survive Ourea's monsters. She drops her guard when Braeden, a native soldier with a dark secret, vows to keep her safe. And though she doesn't know it, her growing attraction to him may just be her undoing.

For twelve years, Braeden Drakonin has lived a lie. The Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when Kara Magari comes into his life. Though he begins to care for this stranded girl, there's something he wants more. He wants the Grimoire.

Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

A Moment

Moments #1
A Moment...
I killed myself tonight.
Or at least I tried. But a woman I do not know refused to let me die. Liliana Delgado wrapped me up in her slim arms and told me things would be okay. But she doesn't know the demons I live with. The things that have happened to me. Every morning is a struggle just to get out of bed and the nights are even worse. But the way she smiles at me... I feel something I've never felt before.
Hope.
...will change our lives...
I shouldn't have gone to that burlesque bar on Valentine's Day, but I did. My life isn't easy. I had a child when I was fourteen, now I'm in college and things should have been easier. But they aren't. My life is spiraling out of control. Then I see Ryan Cosgrove sitting at a table with an empty, broken look in his beautiful blue eyes and something inside of me feel like he knows. He understands what it is to hurt, to struggle. So when I bump into him later that night, bloody, broken, and dying I know I'll do everything in my power to save him and maybe in the process, I'll save myself too.
forever...

Question: Create a playlist for a book - or a single song if you don't want to do an entire playlist - Suggested by This Girl Reads A Lot and Bubbly and Bookish

Answer: I often listen to music while I'm reading (not as much), but whenever I'm listening to these songs, they remind me of the following books: (Not that they have anything to do with the book, one does...sort of,but the song just popped into my head and I now associate the song with the book).:)

Masquerade (Blue Bloods #2)
by

Incubus- Love Hurts

    Marked (House of Night #1)

by

Vixen- Late Night Alumni

***Like I mentioned before, the songs may not relate to what's happening in the book as a whole, but whenever I'm listening to them I think of the book right away. Do you guys have a song(s) that remind you of a certain book?*** :)
